Default can u use 36v f/r switch on 48v cart?

i have a 2001 DS and broke the rear black piece off of the f/r switch while installing 4ga cables......while digging around last night i thought i saw where someone said it was possible to use a 36v switch on a 48v cart but now, of course, i cant find that thread. seemed like they referenced switching some connections or something....

the 36v swithces are about half the price of a 48v.

also, does anyone know the differences between the pre 95 switches and the 96-current ones? i found a used one but he doesnt know if it is a 95 or 96 model, he is supposed to be getting me the part number today.

i just dont want to drop $100 on a new switch if i dont have to.

thanks

There are 3 main terminals on the 36v switch and 1 verses 3 micro switches...
It can be done but it would be much easier to stick to a 48v switch or better yet my HD F&R
