If it is its normal use to climb, I would resell it, buy a gas powered and even change the gear from 12.5:1 standard to a 15:1...

Thanks all. This was what I was looking for. From what everyone said I may swap the motor / controller and see how it does but not try and swap to regen. I really like the idea of gas power the more I think about it.

Best advice I can offer.

Sell cart. Buy RXV.

Bone stock cart will haul stated load while towing your old cart up that hill.

RXV has regen and can go up to 19mph on stock tires with only programming.


No motor upgrades avail or needed.
Controller upgrade avail if you want to tow cars.

We have used stock RXV to tow pickup truck out of gravel bone yard.
(Chevy c1500).
The ford guys got a laugh at chevys expense.

I can vouch for that. I used my RXV to tow a broken down Dodge RAM 3500 panel van out of my driveway and out to the road for a guy. I had to get some momentum going (about 15 MPH) to get up that last 30 feet at a fairly steep grade, but it made it.

OK - I upgraded the controller to the Alltrax SR48400, upgraded the solenoid, replaced the FNR Switch with an HD (mine was some kind of hybrid - heavier than normal but not truly and HD) and swapped to an Admiral MOT-B1 motor. I am planning on programming tonight - it still seemed sluggish after the install. Any pointers on settings? Based on what I have read here the Alltrax controllers ship at a user friendly stock setup. I want to make sure I am taking advantage of the new motor.

Define sluggish.

Torque/Power is going to come from the Max Amps settings. Sounds like you have no reason not to max them out. Top speed is controlled by Motor RPM/Speed Limit. 6000 is generally considered safest maximum. I'd start at 4500 and work my way up. I found 5000 was more than my cart needed. When it comes to responsiveness, you have several settings to tweek; Throttle Rate, Street/Turf and Turbo mode. I am still learning how these work but they all interact. Turf mode puts a slower ramp to the throttle to prevent wheel spin on grass. Throttle Rate is another way to smooth power application. I find Turf, Turbo and 60% a pretty good combination for my hills. Street, Turbo and 60% is kind of twitchy on take offs. Experiment until you find your sweet spots.

In what way? From what I remember when programming with a friend, everything in the toolkit was pretty close to the same on the SR as the XCT.

What voltage were your batteries at?

Some chargers will charge your batteries and then maintain them at full charge. (Float charge)
Some chargers will charge your batteries and shut off unless the batteries drop below a certain voltage point.
Some chargers will charge your batteries and shut off completely.

So if you started out low on voltage that would create a sluggish response. It would also pull more amps and possibly create more heat.
