Default Official Alltrax "FN-DIY 1-SPDT SWITCH" Drawing

I contacted Alltrax to get information on how to wire up the "Personality" or user mode switch on the Alltrax controller without the FNKS Box. The attached diagram was sent to me by Ron Manns, their Technical Support / Customer Service Manager. He has given explicit permission to post this document for general consumption, so for those wanting to do this modification, here is the diagram and parts list on how to do it.

How is this different than what their user manual shows? Maybe I should as why is it different?

Are we to understand this is a drawing for using an SPDT switch?

Alltrax already shows how to use a SPDT switch in their XCT-IQ drawing, this shows the pin assignments for J4-J5-J6.

Instead of a SPDT, it is better to use a locking switch with the key removable in all 3 positions.

Can you give an example of such a switch?

Just a quick search produced this one:
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/...mGq9roruNB8%3d
You would wire it like this:
Switch pins 1-2 : KSI power (Red Wire - Molex pin 1)
Switch pin 8: User #1 (White wire - Molex pin 2)
Switch pin 3: User #2 (Black wire - Molex pin 3)
The cool thing with this switch is that the key is captive in the Normal middle position but can be removed if you turn it counter-clockwise (User #1) or Clockwise (User #2).

There are quite a lot of options including those barrel switches.

Yes. I just want a toggle to hide under the seat, so I can switch it to kiddie mode when I let the kids and/or wife use the cart. Hopefully, they will never even know it exists.

OK - this is even better. I can lock them into a specific mode!. Thanks for the suggestion!
