When you ship it to him, he also machines the side gears true, this way you get really good contact with the plates and friction rings. I'm sure it's worth something since the side gears are a pressed metal and not very true from the factory. Since they are heat treated, I sent mine to a friend to true them up on his surface grinder.

Here's a before and after pic of the side gears. Just shipping the side gears is much cheaper than shipping the whole differential, plus my friend didn't charge me anything to machine them.

Nice friend to have. Would you be my friend?

I'm just enjoying this thread, and don't see a need for a posi/limited slip any time soon.

EZGO part number is 614756 and it's the whole differential and has clutches and plates which put pressure on the side gears, just like a limited slip differential for a car.

The Plowmans posi is basically the same concept, but it puts pressure on the side gears by installing their posi unit which has springs and metal plates with a friction ring. The Plowmans posi goes into your existing differential and must be installed by Plowmans, so you need to send them your differential.

$417.40 vs $299.
I can attest to the factory limited slip on the RXV. Twin roostertails of mud slinging rearward will propel you through the mud much better than one! And twin roostertails of mud slinging forwards when in reverse can make a huge mess as well as backing you out of a sticky situation!

That sounds good to me, the more traction the better.

Scotty, I'm going a little different route with the rear end fluid. I'm going with a 85 w/140 gear oil that has the friction modifier in it already. Less stuff to worry about. This is what I'm going with.

Will the EZGO unit fit a 1995 housing and ring gear? Plowman’s kit won’t fit my ‘95 carrier
