is there a output off the curtis controller when the brake pedal is pressed? so i can power a relay for my brake lights?

Yes, I think it is behind the cup holder. Search for more info, I can't recall the details, but seems like the output is 24v or something like that.

Most people just connect to the pedal, but the method you suggest is better as the controller turns on the brake light when appropriate.

Be sure you get more info from other posts or the experts here as I can't recall the specifics.

This may help: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ght-relay.html Note in particular the last post by Bob Boyce.
I think this is the same for the curtis carts but wait for confirmation.

Voltage depends on how it is set in the controller but normally 24 volts. I have bought them at napa auto parts before.

This should set you in the right direction

The newest rxvs are a little different, but the majority will be this setup. Every Rxv has provisions for a brake light circuit activated by the controller, even if it wasn't originally equipped with lights.
