Ignore the FNR. I was wrong. His controller apparently "hates" 1/2 speed reverse.

It certainly does hate it at this time. Its been connected for years that way. Hopefully a throttle fix and restore the 1/2 speed. Thanks again

You were not wrong, I finally got back to the cart to do some more checking and did find a bad contact on the FNR switch. New one on the way.
Thank you and JohnnieB for your help.

Good deal. Could you tell if the bad contact might have been the result of the contacts not moving all the way to the stop? It's possible the owner just didn't move it all the way to reverse and caused hot spots to develop.

Here's the adjustable slots I was talking about.

He is 80+ so he easily has not gotten it into reverse and cause the issue over time. I will get him and extended shift lever, that should help.

Some would recommend a reversing contactor, but if you go that route, I'd place the switch where the existing knob is, for ease of use.

Maybe emphasize the importance of putting it all the way into "gear", not just 'til it beeps for reverse, or goes for forward. He's gotta get another coupla decades out of the thing.

I think anyone 80+ would really appreciate the contactor over the mechanical f/r. Heck, I’m in my 40’s and appreciate it.

The bottom contact was burned pretty bad. Looks like it all started with a partial shift or two causing it to start arcing. From the first partial shift, it only got worse. Thus the new Caddy Shifter handle I plan to add with new switch, but will try to talk him into the F/R contactor as per Orangeman.
