'09 RXV looking for TORQUE
I'm a new member with an '09 48V RXV. It has 23" Sahara tires. The controller is marked ACO and has been tinkered with by a local golf cart "guru". The only way I can get it to climb the hills on my hunting lease is to run 20" tires or take a wide open running start - which Mama don't like and still doesn't get the job done sometimes. I had for a short time lowered the cart back to stock height and bought 12" wheels with 20" tires so my Mom could ride (she has RA and doesn't get around too good). The 20" tires would pull the hills if the cooler wasn't too full. Now that hunting season is back in I want to go back to the monster truck look and feel.
Bottom line is, either tire gives me plenty of speed. I just need more hill climbing torque and wouldn't mind if acceleration was better. Would more programming do the trick or do I need a different controller and larger cables? |

Re: '09 RXV looking for TORQUE
The "programming" is very basic on the Danaher (ACO) version of the rxv. It's only programming options are speed limit, and acceleration settings of "low", "med", "high". That's it, no torque setting, no other programming available. I don't know what your programming guru did, but I do know what options are available to change in that controller

Re: '09 RXV looking for TORQUE
As stated above, you are very limited on what can be done with your current controller. To accomplish what you are trying to do with the existing cart, you will need to have a Curtis 350 amp controller conversion done. Not inexpensive, but will give you all the torque you need. Have Bob Boyce work his magic on the 350 and you can have both speed and torque. It's a fairly involved conversion, but as long as you take your time and follow all the instructions and tips on this site, it can be done by someone like me with limited knowledge of wiring on the RXV. I did my 2010 RXV (two carts ago) and it was an absolute beast.

So, in your opinion is this better than the Navitas 600 or is the Curtis upgrade just more bang for the buck? |

I have no personal experience with the Navitas so really can't offer any real world opinions, sorry. There are several threads on here that pertain to the Navitas.

There are enough of them out there now that their flaws are beginning to become apparent. Save your money and stick with a stock Curtis controller. More powerful and a lot less cost.

Re: '09 RXV looking for TORQUE
I may be looking in the wrong place, but it looks like the Navitas conversion is half the price of the Curtis upgrade. The Curtis i saw linked on here from Textron was almost $1900. I'd rather have the Curtis due to the higher current vs. the Navitas, but cost is a factor.
