Default RXV run without brake

I’ve got a little project cart 2009 RXV

Brake seems to be an issue. I have near 50 volts to the brake but the cart is not working properly with the brake installed. So I think I need a new one.

With that said can I run the cart without a brake. The cart does end up stopping with the pedal. But will I cause any issues of running without the electric brake?

Nothing to stop the cart once you turn the key off, unsafe. Besides, only a few rxv will allow you to anyway.

Well I don’t think I’ll be shutting the key off while I’m driving it. So theoretically it will work. Just something the controller is choosing to ignore?

So what is stopping it motor brake?

The motor brake has nothing to do with slowing the cart during normal operation. It's job is only to hold a stopped cart stopped.

If the controller still operates with the motor brake removed, it is ignoring that error code. The motor brake is really just a parking brake. Braking in an RXV is done with regen braking, using the motor itself as a brake. Without the motor brake installed, the cart could roll away if not parked on level ground or is pushed while the key is off.

On Danaher variants the car should do a twist test and shut down going beep! beep! beep! and throw a 25107 brake error.

Curtis models you can use a handheld to bypass the EM brake check and allow it to drive, but in my experience it, too will shut down once you go a certain speed, but also in my case, there are NO BRAKES. I don't even get regen when i moved one without the brake on (only to get into the shop vs. pushing if I knew only the brake was bad)

For some reason, any Danaher controllers FSIP sends us are ignoring the brake check and have a distinctively different power-up self-test. The software is the same (5. eight (odd it shows a smiley when i type the number)) but that test is programmed out. Not sure if that's one of the mystery options in the (inaccessible to me) "Options Menu" in the Danaher handheld or not.
