Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
I was afarid yould say that. I had it wired to A.
Still doesn't explain why it wont turn over now. I checked the fuse, it was blown. Wired a jumper in it's place and still nothing. I'm not getting any power to D terminal with the key on and the pedal down. |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
Check your battery voltage first. It could have been discharged by something that isn't right. We do know something isn't right, so let's start there. Let me know if it's down or dead. I'm going to look at a diagram for a bit. Verify the ground with your meter...

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
Battery is fully charged. (first thing I checked)
let me run out and double check the ground. I did have to take one off to remove the flywheel cover but I thought I had put it back on. |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
That got it The ground had come off. I guess I didn't have it as good as I thought. Bolted it on this time.
Now back to the original problem. Which if the three wires do I disconnect to supply power to the MSD? I have a blue, an oarnge W/ white, and a red. (might have a black stripe might just be dirty) |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
Well sht. I'm kinda happy with that. It does turn over?
We can get back to the MSD now. Disconnect the heavy red wire that goes to + on the battery first. Then we'll go thru connections and t-shoot. |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
Yes, it tunrs over now.
We'll have to save the rest of the T shooting untill after I get off work tomorrow. Should be home around 4:30 pm. Of the 3 wires on post D, it looks like I can disconnect either the oarnge or red as long as I leave the blue correct? |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
Heavy Black wire goes to batt -terminal
Heavy red (disconected) to batt + Small red to post d on the solenoid.* That will take care of the power to the MSD Minus the batt + *note terminal D should be a positive terminal. The opposing small terminal should be grounded to the frame. Be sure not to connect this red wire to ground. OK, I want to be sure you have tapped the right wiring harness. The old ignitor should be disconnected from everything (except the ground, which could also be disconnected) The plug that goes into the ignitor is the harness you want. Not the ones from the ignitor. I almost confused this myself. MOre to come.... |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
I'll type it out and we'll get together tomorow. It is near bedtime...
Orange-to red on original harness.---ignition coil Black- goes to white--------------ignition coil Violet- blue?- goes to red w/ white stripe----pulsar coil Green - goes to black.--------Pulsar coil White is not used... That should keep you busy. Have a good one. Tony Post D should only have the red ignitor wire removed and the MSD connected. All the old wires remain and NO other new wires from the MSD go to the solenoid. There should be a red from the MSD.That red comes off the solenoid to the ignition coil. That makes 2 reds on the solenoid. Then there should still be a blue wire still connected. The blue wire is for the ignition switch. That should have it all connected correctly. There were some spots that almost tricked me. it doesn't say to remove anything from the terminal but I thought I was suppoed to. The excact harness to tap into, could have been confusing also. We'll get it going, The diagram is simple and now after reveiwing, I'm confident we can figure it out. At least I'm having fun! tony Last edited by tonyton; 08-26-2009 at 11:29 PM.. Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
I double checked all the wiring and it was all good. I then proceded to disconnect the MSD in my race car and wire this one in.
It did not fire. I reinstalled the race cars MSD and the car fired right up. Looks like I fried the box . |

Re: Finally got to put the MSD on my cart
That's beyond a drag...
If you want help re-connecting the old stuff, or need anything, let me know. You have a pm with my number. I'm sorry to hear the bad news...I have used pulsars and ignition coils. No ignitors, but I've seen those on Ebay...Good Luck. |
