I need to know what rebuild kit is best to buy for my 1986 Ezgo and can I get a kit that will give me more H.P
Do I need to replace the crankshaft and stuff. One more thing I need a fix for air cleaner or aftermarket filter don't know what to use. Thanks for all of your help, |

Re: Rebuild Kit
An '86 ez go should have a 2PG two cycle engine. There are many rebuild kits on the market, I do not think there is a kit for the two cycles for horsepower.
You won't know about the lower rod and crankshaft until it is disassembled. The rod usually has a slight amount of clearance side to side on the journal, but should have NO up and down play. There are specs for the allowable play. These 2 strokes when tuned are about as good as they'll get. They weren't designed for speed. Modifying even the air intake will change the performance curve of the motor. Changing the pipe will cause poor performance... Have you done the diagnostics to determine the need for a rebuild? You may need the whole thing, maybe a set of rings....Compression test? A rebuilt '90 2 cycle came up for sale. May want to see if that'll work. Check our for sale area... Re: Rebuild Kit
if the bottom end is tight rolls over smooth and quiet it should be ok, i would take the time to install new crank seals.

Re: Rebuild Kit
I've heard of that problem. The intake is on the body? A 2" tube bends and becomes 2 1/2"? One person used 2" flex PVC tubing for a jacuzzi. He heated the tube to stretch it to 2 1/2". A universal radiator hose may work, if I have the right model in mind...You may be able to get away with a foam aftermarket filter on this. Nubs would know. Have a nice night folks.

Re: Rebuild Kit
If that ring was broken, and you did not break it pulling it off the piston, look very carefully at the exhaust port to make sure it was not snagging on the port!
