Default EZ GO Gas Will not run

We have an 87 ez go gas 2 cyl cart....started backfiring, now it wont start at all..... any ideas would be appreciated.

Start with a compression test, no need to do carb or anything else if compression is low.
If ok, check for spark.
If thats ok, I would pull the carb and clean it.
If you find trash/water in it then clean the tank, lines and pump as well or you might be doing it again.
If you have trash/water in the tank, check your gas can also.

2 cyl are bad on the spark plug, replace it and go from there, the last couple i worked on was just a bad/worn plug.

I just bought a 85 EZGO 2 cycle with same problem, mine was the crank seal. (Common problem with 2 cycle, backfiring causes the seal to blow.) Not a big job to change the seals, you will need a clutch pulling tool to get the clutch off. Good luck!
