Re: Water soaked air filter - thus leading to carb
I would say get the oil in the cylinders and see what happens. You may in fact have a broken ring......strange that there is no water in the oil but it is seized. Have you taken both belts off and tried it? Is the starter engaging? You may want to plan on pulling the engine and think about breaking it down to see what the problem is. I suppose if it was a broken ring and you managed to get it freed up and then kept on fooling around with it you could cause considerably more damage. It really is not hard to pull it and hey.....a good excuse to build it back better that stock!! Oh and Scotty.......real funny with the "experts" comment.....lol!

Re: Water soaked air filter - thus leading to carb
The first thing I would do is remove the belt to the starter and make sure that it is not frozen up. Next I would take the flywheel cover off and use the large flywheel bolt. Try turning it back and forth slightly. You can take the cover off with just a few bolts and you will not have a broken off clutch bolt.
I think the oil in the cylinder holes is on the right path. Some times when you get a junk yard engine in a car they take a little while to break free. The problem with water is it is at it's maximun density and doesn't compress. You could have bent valves as well as a rod or rods. But lets don't qo there yet. If you ever have this problem again boat dealers will fill the block to the top with diesel fuel until they can work on the problem. They then drain the block, and refil with oil. I will fill it all the way up with some cheap oil and then drain it out again. On a cart you are taking about 10 bucks...... Good Luck |
