Adding a 12v deep cycle to change from 36 to 48?

I will start by saying... This can't be a good idea. I have heard people adding another 12 volt deep cycle battery to a 36 volt (older) cart. All of the posts I have read only address charging issues and don't discuss adverse reprocusions. This can't last long right? If it were that easy, wouldn't evertone do it?

theres a little more to it than just dropping in a battery. new controller .solenoid. etc

I'm sure. How does that equate to an older modle like mine controlled by microswitches and selonoids? Just don't do it is my guess!

At issue are the 5 36v solenoids you have for speed control. I know of one member who is doing it and he said he just burns up a solenoid or 2 now and again

I don't think that is acceptable... where are you gonna be when the master solenoid melts down from overvolting it? those solenoids are not cheap. Save up your money and when you are ready add 2 batts and convert to 48v the right way with a PB-6 and 48v controller

Until then 4g cables will help her run the best she can be .

Or clean it up sell it and buy a 48 Volt cart, they can be purchased sometimes for almost the same amount of $$$
