Welcome to the mayhem, that is a cool project for free you can always do a little at a time as you can afford it. I am in the process of putting a sound system in my truck and I am buying parts for it as I have the money it's going to take me a while but I am ok with that. Just take your time and enjoy the project.

I think I know what I have now...

I found the sticker under the setat by the batteries.

It says the model is "TXTE" and the date code is "K0504".

I also found a sticker on the wiring harness that said "PASSED 03-31-04".

So I am guessing it's a 2004 model???

What does TXTE mean? What do I need to know about this particular model?

I also found the date code on the Trojan batteries. It is "F4", (April '04?)which proably means these are the original batteries...

Yep, your cart was built in May of 04, and yes you have original batteries, time for some new ones.

Crap...

Well I got nothing to lose, so I will try giving them a good cleaning, refill and charging before I condemn them.

I would like to get enough juice to see if the cart works before plunking out serious coin for batteries.

Is there any good way to do that cheaply?

get your batts at sams club. best price for new. or you can check your area cart dealers to see if they have any fairly new ones. wow, if i was closer i would offer 1k for that in a minute. i mean for about $600 for batts and cables, would have $1600 in it.

I'll keep that in mind...

Maybe I can trailer it 1/2 way to TX...

I don't have a whole lotta room in my garage (with them Russian sidecars and all) so if I can't scrape the money up for batteries, I may just put it up for sale. I'll letcha know...

I'd sure like to know if it works first... Is there a way I can rig 3 12V car batteries together just to see it it will run?
