Default where to start? uphill power 1979 ez go

I use my cart to putter around town. We have hills, not too steep, but it slows to a crawl. Cart is in good shape and has decent batteries ( but willing to get new ones). Eventually I would like to lift and use off road. After spending hours searching I am more confused. I thought I'd ask, what would you do? Convert to 48 volts, get a new motor, both? I'm an old lady but I can follow directions pretty well. Any help from you smart guys would be appreciated.

Welcome To BGW

1979 is an old resistor coil cart....I wouldn't suggest anything short of converting to a more modern (1990s) Solid State speed control system.

You can change motors but, a stronger or faster motor is only going to tax the old system even more.

Maybe we could talk you into a newer cart?

Thanks for the quick response. Oh I wish I could get a new cart, but I have only $1500 (fixed income) I don't need alot more power just a little umph, cause I look kinda silly with my foot out pushing like a scooter. I live in a small town and can get anywhere on a cart. I do have a 1994 toyota pickup in good shape, wanna trade?
