Default 1997 EZGO TXT DCS, what to upgrade 1st?

Hi, I am new to cart ownership. I purchased a nicely used '97 EZGO TXT DCS with a rear seat. Eventually I would like to put a 4" or maybe 5" lift with larger than stock tires, nothing really large. Anyway the cart runs the usual 13mph; I would like to run faster than that, but nothing ridiculous. I have on order a 4awg wire kit, so that will be first. Can you give me some suggestions? I don't want to spend $1000s... just something to boost it a bit.

Thanks.

as350pilot, Welcome to BGW!

Your DCS cart is a Sepex drivetrain, and it will respond nicely to a controller upgrade for a few more MPH. Only Sepex carts react this way, Series carts do not. After that a PlumQuick rewind for your motor, and if that's not buttering your bread, consider a 48v upgrade.

Simple controller upgrade would give you 20mph. Contact any one of the site sponsors for tech help and price

lmao... notice I am not giving advise? probably because I simply HATE DCS cars and would love to see every one of them converted to series.... might have to start a movement...... The society to stamp out miserable carts committee.... or something like that

you do realize DCS stand for Dead Cart Smoking right?

LOL, ........

Just sent my neighbor home with his DCS cart after a Controller/solenoid upgrade. A few bigger cables and the dang thing is trying to come off the ground in front It's lifted on 22s...DCS definitely produces more torque than PDS and I put an analog meter in it this time..... they had been through a few 'stock' controls..... but with kids driving and no meter = it was a recipe for disaster

Sounds good so far... I have ordered, a SOC Gauge, upgraded cables, and will be sending the motor off to PQ. Next I will do the speed controller, of course I have seat covers, windshield, lift, and tires & wheels to do too... ;)
