Does this look like a 1986 G2.
At least that's what the title I have says! I am a golf cart rookie and will be posting a ton on the forum. First of all does the pic match a 1986 G2 and what battery type and manufacturer would you recommend? I am in AZ which I am sure has some sort of bearing on the best battery correct? Thanks for your help! |

Re: Does this look like a 1986 G2.
Treuth Welcome! Yes it does look like a 2 to me. As far as battery, 600 crank amps will do, I put a top of the line Auto Zone in mine. Same one as in my pick-up or Tahoe, so I would have a back-up for which ever vehicle might need one in a pinch!
Good deal on getting one with a Title. Now you can make it street legal!! Your gonna love working on a Yamaha. very straight forward and simple. Very tunable, and responds to performance mods well!! My advise, read this whole Yamaha site, you will learn tons on maintenance and what mods to do and not to do!! Good luck ,and enjoy! |

Thanks for the reply. A month later and I am finally starting to get my hands dirty. I stopped @ the auto parts store and the dude that worked there told me I needed a "group" for the battery?

Treuth, measure the battery box, and get one that fits. Also looking at your car, G2's have a white steering wheel and collum. Has yours been painted?

I think it was painted. Almost looks like the body was painted as well. Was the battery you bought a deep cycle duralast?

No, just an automotive battery. Deep cycle require an extended charge cycle, hard on the small generator on a golf cart.
