motor mount repair, need help
when I took the mounts off for overhaul discovered that two of the four were separated from its base. Has anyone ever tried to epoxy rubber back to mounts before and was it successful?

Re: motor mount repair, need help
Don't try to repair them, replace them. They are not that expensive and easy to swap out.

Re: motor mount repair, need help
I believe your wasting your time. Motor mounts have to move, and the glue isn't going to have near the strength to hold, under stressfull conditions. Best to replace or you'll be going in there again.
Also, don't forget the torque cable. Thats why they broke to start with, or with age. |

Re: motor mount repair, need help
I wouldn't want to make fun of anybody. Jean may be young or just starting out in the automotive world. He'll get up ta speed soon enough! At least he knew enough to start with a Yamaha!!
Everybody on here is using their car for different purposes. We all have them set up for that purpose. Enjoy Jean, and have fun! Mike Jean, just thinking, You run the risk of breaking more parts, if that motor gets loose in there. |

Re: motor mount repair, need help
Jean -- I don't blame you for trying to "fix" your mounts --- easy to do and it's cool to accomplish something. But consider the situation --- what happens when the mounts give up and you are miles from help and tools? How will you feel when it is wet and cold out, you were expecting to have fun, you have a schedule to keep, ... and all of a sudden both your mounts break loose and your engine is bouncing around tearing things up? Isn't it better to really FIX the problem correctly by replacing the mounts?
If new mounts were expensive or hard to find you would get more sympathy here. But they aren't. Listen to the advice of the people you asked for advice. |

Re: motor mount repair, need help
I would not recommend using glue to repair anything mechanical due to safety.
