that's great prep work. looks better than new, and will last more years than the original 27. what color will you go with?

White. We painted a 61' sportfisherman and had some left over. Called the owner of the boatl since it was a time/material job, and he did not want the left overs.
Wire came from the same boat, but that is another story

Pulled out the rear/motor assembly to check things out. The old drum brakes did not work very well so removing them proved to be challenging. On one side the threads on the castle nut were striped and needed to chase the threads on the axle to get the new one on.
The other drum just would not come off......beat it with a dead blow....heat and beat, ha ha......so took a torch to it and cut the frigging thing off.
Compared prices on replacing the drum to purchasing a set of cable operated disc brakes.....installed the later since they were on sale on one of the sponsor's site

kewl build ! Im basicly doing the same build.. I have some spare hubs and a brake set up if your in need ...
