Voltage while driving??????

I have a 48 volt system with 4 12 volt batteries.

What voltage whould I see when driving, what is the lowest it should drop down to?

Is too low a voltage bad for it if when stopped it is above 48 volts

This chart is a good tool. If your voltage is under 48.41 while the cart is at rest, you should recharge. Letting the pack get below 50% SOC is hard on them and will shorten the life of the pack. As for voltage drop while driving, I have noticed mine will sometimes go as low as 44v while under full load, but the resting voltage is what really matters. When it gets below 50%, plug it in...

With the meter installed the cart (and motor) acts like a giant load tester. I don't have a black and white answer for you here. Maybe one of the math wizards that frequent the board could come up with a chart for acceptable drop under load. Testing should be done with a fresh pack. I don't like to see a drop of more than 1 volt per battery unless the cart is pulling up a significant incline, in which case I want to see it quickly come back to what it was before the hill minus voltage consumed.

thanks for the answers guys. I have not seen a drop of more than 44 volts at all. mostly wide open throttle in high gear it will drop and stay at 46.? and in low gear wide open it will drop and stay at 47.? ( yes I have a 2 speed rear end ) I will do more checking. I was looking for some quidance on what to expect now that I got a scottyB volt meter and can watch all this stuff happening. used to It was stop and check with a volt meter.

went for a ride tonight at half throttle for about four miles on pavement and wet dirt road. in low gear. voltage mostly stayed at 48.? except when in the soft mud then it would drop to 47.? when I got home it was at 49.3 at a dead stop. which is better than before the upgrades where it would be closer to 48 volts. and need a recharge.

I run one of these Alltrax Ex-Ray Volt speedometers with a volt meter. Alltrax recommends "warning" at 42v, and "danger" at 39v. These settings are for while driving.

That's coming from Alltrax who sets their 36v bottom threshold at 21V...Which is much lower than I would want myu 36v pack drawn down to.

Where are you getting that 21v from? My Alltrax documentation shows 31.5v and 29v for the 36v carts.
