Cc DS vs Precedent
Hello all, I have very odd question and would like honest input. I currently own a 2001 Cc DS (series) cart. The cart is lifted with a A-arm lift with 26 mudlights( yes they fit and no rub. The cart are showing it's age from no brakes to worn bushings, faded and broken plastic. About a year ago I dropped a large pile of cash and got a Alltrax 500 amp controller and a D and D motor that suppose to be around 25 hp. It has all the power that I need. Also I have 2 year old 8 volt batteries 48 volt system.
Here is the question, the cart it self needs to be replaced. I have found some newer non series DS carts at good prices. I got the idea since I got 1000 in motor and controller 300 lift and 300 in tires, to buy say a 2010( the kind with the I guess it's called the IQ system, strip it all down and install the series combination motor controller wiring harness, lift tires ect. I pretty sure this would work. With little labor done in my shop. Ok so today I talked to a local used golf cart dealer and was telling him my plans. He threw out the idea of taking a precedent and doing the same swap. The precedents to me looks nicer and it's suppose to have a stronger frame. After reading alittle on the forum I think it would be possible. The only thing I'm unsure of is the MCOR. I know I would need the older DS version but do they have the same "bolt pattern " to bolt up. The only other option would be to sell my Alltrax and d and d motor to a small market at a great loss and start over. I know this seems to be a lot of work but I like building stuff in my shop. So do scrap the controller/ motor I have, find a newer DS and make the swap or gut a Precedent and put the older system in. If the precedent would work that would be my choice. Thanks for advice... Re: Cc DS vs Precedent
There is a thread on here where a guy took his precedent all the way down to the frame. Pretty much the entire cart is plastic with the exception of the suspension, the 2 frame rails and the cowl support. They do look good but IMO just not as solid as the DS

Re: Cc DS vs Precedent
rebuild the DS with new body and seats. Suspension parts are cheap.

Re: Cc DS vs Precedent
My vote is on the Precedent. The frame is leaps and bounds tougher than a DS. Boxed frames (Precedent) are ALWAYS stronger than I-Beam DS. I've been in the business for 13 years. The Precedent came out in 2004. I've only seen one bent frame in this time. I've straightened hundreds of DS frames in this same amount of time. Also, don't worry about the MCOR. The MCOR on the Precedent emits the exact same frequency as the MCOR on your DS car. It also has the same two plugs for the wiring.

Tahoe knows what he's talking about...
If you like the Precedent better and like doing stuff like this, go for it! |
