rear hubs on precedent
I am new at working on precedent golf carts.
I'm having a real problem removing the rear hub on the passenger side. There is not a hole in the drum to back the breaks off and it is so tight the wheels will not turn. I got the hub off with a puller, But this broke the hub. So, for future reference, Please tell me where I went wrong and the best way to remove the hubs. Thanks Sonny |

Re: rear hubs on precedent
Ok I'm replying.
I think it's the latter why people aren't replying (that's the case for me). So it sounds like the brakes locked up and that's why the hub wouldn't come off? |

Re: rear hubs on precedent
Thanks Jake
I know they are to tight to come off. I'm just trying to find a way to loosen them up with out breaking the hub. though Dawg would know what to do. Thanks again. |

Re: rear hubs on precedent
I pulled my right rear hub off last night. It was tight to where the wheel was hard to turn. I used a small hammer to tap on the drum as I pulled on it. Very slowly it came off. Not sure but I think you could slip a screw driver in beside the rubber boot on the adjuster and loosen it up. Never tried that because the tapping worked for me and I did not have to get under the cart. Just a thought.

Re: rear hubs on precedent
Take a chisel and hammer and cut the head off the brake shoe retainer pin and they will slide off easy.. A new pin should be in the reline kit.

Re: rear hubs on precedent
Gadavis Thanks for the info. I think that could work. This was the kind of information I was looking for. Most all of the men on this forum have had more experience than I on club cars. I like the way they solve problems.
Sure wish I had asked before I broke the hub.LOL |

Re: rear hubs on precedent
Normally though if they are on that tight it is because the drum is worn down and there is only a tiny lip that hands on the back of the brake shoes, braking the drum is not an issue as it would need replacing anyway, I put a bit puller on the drum with a slide hammer and give it a few whacks till that lip of the drum separates and then toss it.
