96 g-16 gas throttle issue
Hello,
I have a 96 G-16 yamaha gas golf cart. This morning when heading to the course, I slowed down to enter the parking lot. After doing so I was unable to get the engine to rev via the foot pedal. These are the symptoms 1) Push pedal golf cart tries to turn over (makes me think battery is good and starter is good ) 2) Checked fuel filter, clean as a whistle. 3) The carburetor doesn’t open (I can manually run the golf cart with my hand by opening the carb) 4) I fell like a spring is missing or something? I have attached a picture of the top of the carb to see if you can see anything. I should mention I work on computers for a living. Engines are foreign to me. |

Re: 96 g-16 gas throttle issue
Actually, you have a G14. If the throttle shaft is not opening, accelerator cable #1 (from the pedal to the govenor) or cable #2 (from govenor to the throttle shaft) are broken/damaged or out of adjustment. Most likley cable #1

Re: 96 g-16 gas throttle issue
After actually getting under ther G14 (you are correct) i can easily see that the throttle cable number 1 from the pedal is broken. I have ordered the new part. Is this a pretty simple fix?

Re: 96 g-16 gas throttle issue
Remove the "service panel" under your sweater basket. The hardest part is getting the spacer, cable end, the pin, dual spring into the govenor spring and then the clip into the pin. Not alot of working room. Remember to leave alittle slack at the pedal, or you can break another cable. Good luck

Do you recommend taking off the "sweater basket" which is actually a "Beer cooler basket"? does it give you anymore room?

Re: 96 g-16 gas throttle issue
Well this was quite a process getting the throttle cable changed. A note for those who look at this later, Take off the muffler and save yourself some time.
