Taylor Dunn chain problem
I am upgrading a 1978 TeeBird from 36v to 48V using a D&D 6 HP motor to replace the 36v motor. Installed it and took it for a little drive which initially went fine, but then it started jerking and making a noise like the chain was slipping. Pulled the motor and checked the drive gear for tightness. It was fine. Re-installed and adjusted motor position to tighten the chain as much as possible. Now sounds like the chain has slipped off. Any ideas on what might be going on?

Re: Taylor Dunn chain problem
Did you check to see if the chain fell off? I've never seen one fall off, its a pretty great system.

Re: Taylor Dunn chain problem
Thanks for the reply. I checked and it was still around both gears. Seems to be slipping cogs on the differential gear. The teeth on the drive gear and the differential gear look OK so I am wondering if the chain may have stretched due to age - I adjusted the motor outwards as far as I could.
