Default Clubcar Carryall II burning oil

I have what I believe is a 1986 clubcar carryall II that burns alot of oil. It generates a large cloud of blue smoke out the tailpipe which gets worse during higher engine load. The problem seemed to have come on very quickly. I have been running 10w40 oil in it, and in about a week of daily use, it burns about a quart of oil. recently, it has lost power and continues to get more sluggish as it is run more. Is there a common problem with these buring oil other than oil leaking into the combustion chamber past the piston? There is no oil in the carb or the air cleaner, and there is no gas in the oil. As far as the power loss goes, I'm thinkin it is either just carbon buildup or clogged exhaust. Any input on this problem would be great. I have used the threads in the past to fix different carts and it is very helpful. Thanks guys,
Eric

Sounds Like rebuild Time, have a good look at your snorkel intake hose , if it's cracked, That's were the problem began.

The plug gets completely built up with carbon, but hasn't fowled out yet. I figured it was probably time for a rebuild. So the inlet snorkel being cracked would cause it to wear differently?

The Air intake now comes in through your split in the hose bypassing the air filter , any available dirt is sucked in , instant sand blasting!
