Default 2012 Precedent - OBC and new battery question

I think my cart's batteries (48V) are due to be replaced. Acceleration is getting pretty sluggish, and we have this weird bucking occasionally. The batteries are about 4 years old. The cart itself was a rebuild from a dealership purchased by the first owner in 2015, I think.

I've been reading battery threads all day trying to figure out the best, and most economical course of action. I'm hoping someone can check my math here on a few things:

1) It seems like it shouldnt matter what battery brand we get with the OBC? We have a powerdrive3 charger and the stock OBC, as far as I know.

2) The common recommendations seem to be Trojan, Crown, and US Battery in all the threads as the replacement recommendations. Is that still the case? I'm in the process of calling around to try to find a place in Northeast Florida that sells those brands at a reasonable price. I saw we can get Costco Interstate 8V batteries at $111 per, which seems to be the cheapest local option I've discovered so far.

3) Battery prices online seem really high. Is it safe to assume my best bet is trying to find a local dealership that will sell the batteries?

4) Is it as simple as just doing a swap of the old batteries with the new, given that I have an OBC? Do the new batteries have to be fully charged first, or does that not matter?

Thanks. This is our first cart so trying to make sure I understand any pitfalls in advance.

I'd spend a few extra bucks and go with one of the top three brands. But that's just me.

New batteries should be close to full charge when you get them.

No problem with the OBC. Just remember to flip the tow/run switch to tow and remove the negative cable going to the controller first.

Battery prices online are through the roof because you have to pay freight to get them. At 65+lbs each, UPS aint gonna deliver them for free.

You are far better off to buy batteries from a local source that will honor the warranty on a battery in case it fails.

Just out of curiosity what are the average prices for batteries in everyone's local area?

I found new Trojan T875 8 volt for $797 for all 6 in Lake City, FL versus $1192 in Valdosta Ga. (both before taxes)
