New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
So this is my first post to the forum (other than the required introduction post). I very recently purchased a great condition 2009 club car precedent (48 Volt) with 6, 8 volt Trojan T875's date stamped T7. The previous owner says the batteries are from 17 not 07. When the cart was dropped off the batteries we so low the charger would not come on. The pack voltage was somewhere in the 20's. I individually charged each battery for about 30 minutes with a 12 volt charger with low amps and brought the total voltage up enough for the charger to come on. The batteries were in a low SOC for approximately 6 months or so with low water levels when I checked them (some plates exposed, used a gallon of distilled water to fill all 6 batteries). The cart will move under its own power now and the batteries hold a charge, however when the charger shuts off the voltage is around 50.9 and will drop to 49.7 over night without using the cart and no accessories on or connected. I recently purchased a Modz 15 amp charger thinking the charger that came with it was not the correct one due to it having a date of 2004 on the back. When the charger completes a charge cycle and shuts off the yellow battery lights flashes with the key switch in the off position, 1 second on, 1 second off. Am I needing a new battery pack in the near future or is the OBC going bad? Sorry for the long post just trying to make sure i have enough info.

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
I would start by charging the batteries, let it set for about 12 hrs and check the voltage of each battery.
I attached a chart that may be of help. |

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
I just checked them after a full charge and they are at 49.92. It has been 12 hours or more. With nothing on.

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
You need to check each individual battery and see what each battery voltage is.
I'm inclined to agree that the batteries are 2017. I doubt any 13 year old battery would still be good. You may have one or more batteries going bad and checking each battery will help you determine that. |

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
Ok so after a charge and a + or - 12 hour rest the batteries are as follows
1: 8.30 2: 8.41 3: 8.29 4: 8.26 5: 8.27 6: 8.27 = 49.81 Like I said I just purchased a new Modz 15 amp charger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

None of your batteries are up to 8.49 V after charge after resting. I'll see my pack voltage at 60+ volts before the charger shuts off. The voltage after 12 hrs of rest will still be over 50.9 V. I'm leaning toward a bad battery pack. Since you mentioned you tried with the factory charger and it had the same results, I think you have some damaged batteries. Quote:

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
I don’t even have to wait 12 hours for those numbers. They are usually there within a few hours and by day 2 or so they are a little lower. It recently sat for about 4 days and when I checked it was around 47 or so volts.

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
Then your battery pack is down to 40-50%. I vote bad batteries.

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
That’s what I was thinking to however hoping I was wrong. Are the Modz chargers any good? Should I go back to the Cc charger or go a different route?

Re: New to me Club Car Precedent battery question
I just hooked the factory charger up to it again and see what happens. Is this the correct charger for a 2009?
