Default Club Car DS Rear End Noise

Just picked up a cheap 1998 Club Car DS 48v as a project. It's basically sound but has a horrible noise and harsh vibration coming from the rear end.

I would welcome suggestions as to what is the most likely source of this noise.

Exhaust leak?

Kidding...maybe the gears? Pull the motor and take a look-see inside.

Turns out it was worn splines on the motor (see photo). Switched known good motor from one of my other carts and it ran well. I installed a Motor Centering Kit and it got rid of about 75% of the vibration - guess it was too far gone. Still not satisfactory, so time for a new motor.

Is that kind of wear indicative of a worn centering kit?

The centering kit is an add-on to help on these types series motors. They were not an OEM item from the factory.
