![]() Took my '89 EZ-Go to the shop and they say I need a new top end...5lbs of compression and should be 100lbs minimum according to the shop. They want $800 to replace the cylinder, piston, rings, etc... I'm considering doing it myself and...found a cylinder replacement kit for $206 online (has cylinder, pistons, rings, wrist pin, clips, and gaskets). Has anyone here taken on this project? Any advice? Thanks in advance for any help with this.

![]() Hello and welcome to BGW!
I have replaced the top end of my 77' ezgo, which has the same top end as your 89'. I documented most of it with pictures. Here are the pics: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/556505652yzoPkI It was a very simple rebuild! I just took my time. The use of proper tools helped a lot!! All the bolts are metric and a torque wrench is a must. I have a top end rebuild manual in PDF format if you are interested. It includes pictures and torque specs. PM me your email and I will send it to you if you want. Also, feel free to ask me and questions regarding the rebuild! Mitch |

![]() 2 strokes are EASY to build. If the shop thinks that 100 lbs is good, then don't go back there! 140# is about what you want...
