Re: Removing the original steering wheel
BDR...
I meant no disrespect! it just seemed like a lot of work to get your wheel off! But, you'll have to understand that I'm a locksmith... I can't even count how many steering wheels I've pulled off! so it was kind of second nature! I have no clue... no supplier (or even my CC dealer) that I've seen stocks them, I just got the part number from my parts manual! but, Monday I'll make a phone call... I'm curious also! Hoodawoo ... that's VERY similar to the one I used! |

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
I didnt take it in any ill manner, and you're right...it WAS INDEED alot of work for such a simple task!!! It took me a day and a half to do what what you guys claim to do in 10 minutes!!!!! But when it finally came off....I felt like a champ!!!!

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
I called my CC dealer today... they said $189.60 List price
But for me... it would be cheaper! (I'm guessing, around $100.00 to $125.00) Again... Still too pricey to pull off just 1 steering wheel! So BDR did what he had to do, to get the job done! |

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
Well, for me I guess I could buy a used wheel and destroy mine. NOT. I'll figure out an easy puller that works......$200?!

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
I used a cheap puller from Harbor Frieght that uses bolts ,got some long 1/4 inch bolts & nuts, drilled 2 holes beside the hub,put on puller, tightened & hit puller with a really big hammer, poped right off.

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
Try some JB blaster, let soak and that should be good, took me less than a min after I took off the nut with a couple wacks with a rubber mallet.

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
That usually works ..... I did end up making a puller from scrap steel stakes. (no real costs) I have used it several times now. It takes about 10 minutes max.

Re: Removing the original steering wheel
I swear the person before me Gorillaglued mine on ;).
As you can see the collar is giving before the wheel moves. I have been soaking with WD40, periodically rapping on the bolt in the puller.... I am going to try and move the puller to the outside of the collar next..... after that I am at a loss... |
