if they are new batteries let that charger alone until it shuts off now if it times out and goes the 16 hours and shuts off ..............unplug everything and than hook it back up and let it charge again.......this is out of a C.C. service manual so take it for what its worth.......................accroding to the manual this is perfectly normal .............dosn,t happen all the time but its normal..........................

can you explain what the readings on the charger mean? when does it mean when it sometimes reads around 25 and others around 5?

The charger has an amperage meter..... it charges in 3 stages of different amperage and shuts of automatically when it is done.

What does your volt meter say the pack voltage is?

ok the charger timed out so i unplugged it and plugged it back in. it charged for about five more minutes and i unplugged it and plugged it back in; nothing happened. so i took it for a short spin and still the same problem. i have a very small hill in my driveway and it came to a dead stop. the coil in the back turns fire red immediately upon moving the cart. scotty, do i have to run the ground all the way to the battery on the gauge or can i ground it there on the key too? the two wires that came with it, i assume one is the positive for a 36v and the other a positive for a 48v???

ok you should have just left it plugged in the 2nd time until it shut off on its own......you need to learn this once you plug the charger in just leave it alone or your gonna shorten runtime and life of batteries..........if that coil behind the batteries is glowing red then you have an issue with the reagan braking system either the soleniod for it or something in the motor or the way its wired but it shouldn,t be getting hot like that .......not that fast......................
