Oh, from what I have seen the brakes and the suspensions on these carts are unique to them and not very similar to golf carts. Again, these shuttles are heavy duty. I doubt you'll find a lift kit but, admittedly, I didn't look as I prefer the low look.

The wheels themselves came with either 4 lug or 5 lug configurations. If you have 4 lug pretty much any fancy golf cart wheel will work (non-lifted, standard size of course). If you have the 5 lug you may have to stick with hub caps unless you can find adapters somewhere.

The body is plastic and I'll start to assemble my parts list from the information that everyone has posted above. As I progress through this project I'll keep you updated! Thanks for all the great feedback....I love this site!

Double check that year. 1986 would be a resistor coil drive cart. I do not believe any of these behemoths were built prior to the introduction of solenoid state in 1990 but, I could be wrong?

Requirements for a 48v upgrade would be very different for these 2 drive systems. Can you post pics of the drive components?

Lochlin, Hi were you able to keep your existing motor for the 48 volt upgrade? I just got a 98 PCX-954 aka the Struggle Bus and I was debating a 48v upgrade. Thank you

Your 1998 36v series motor will respond well to 48v.

Awesome. Thanks. That's good news. Now I guess my biggest decision is keep my six one year old 6V Trojans and try to add two more or get 6 new 8V to put in their place. Of course the new controller, solonoid and cables as well. Read mixed opinions on changing out the forward reverse switch.

I went to 6/8v and ended up putting cement blocks and caps in the rear for traction when empty. Get more lead, it increases run time and traction in these carts.
2 things bug me about the F&R.
1st is the 10 ft of cable from the motor to the direction switch.
2nd is the stock F&R on a cart that obviously has a bigger load than normal.
If I was building mine up a SW202 reversing contactor kit would be on my list. Mount the contactor near the motor and controller and run just the switch wires up front.

Is there a voltage drop of some sort due to the long run of cable from the FR switch back to the motor? Also if you don't mind me asking should I be looking to add a 500A controller? I am not sure what the stock controller rating is I am just assuming that I will need to upgrade it. Thanks for your help. I will be starting this project after the campground closes so I am trying to get my research in now.
