Re: 2000 Ezgo DCS- fried controller
The flash code was one green and six red- which from the manual showed the above message. The solenoid stuck is part of that code in the manual. I reconnected the ten pin and it cleared the code. But after a quick jaunt around the yard I cut the switch off and had the code come back. Wiggled the gen pen and code cleared. So I have Alize wire in the ten pin somewhere.
I got it straight I think. I took it for probably a mile ride and when I came back I just felt the controller and solenoid. Solenoid was very hot controller just warm. Is it usual for solenoid to get hot? |

Re: 2000 Ezgo DCS- fried controller
Define "hot". The coil is energized any time you're driving, so it gets pretty warm. I've never touched mine, to see if it's too hot to touch. If the internal contacts are worn out, I can see it getting "hot", as I melted internal parts on two stock solenoids before upgrading. Had to do emergency surgery to one, just before the July 4 parade.

Re: 2000 Ezgo DCS- fried controller
so hot enough where you can't leave your hand on it but not hot enough to burn you instantly. I'd guess in the 150-175F range. And this is brand new upgraded solenoid.

If you can't leave your hand on it it's probably too hot.

Re: 2000 Ezgo DCS- fried controller
The solenoid should only get 10º above ambient in a 1 mile ride.
Show pictures of the solenoid install. PLEASE no closeups/pan out |
