Precedent jerking
I have a 2013 precedent that is jerking badly while riding it. What could be causing this?
It was on charge all night. So figured the batteries are shot since they're the factory batteries but the tester shows 49.8 volts even after riding around a little bit. The charger just clicked when I plugged it in so I thought it may be the charger but after that reading I'm guessing it's only clicking and not charging because the batteries are actually fully charged. Any help would be greatly appreciated |

Re: Precedent jerking
Pack is not fully charged. Search here for a state of charge SOC chart. Also search for how to reset the OBC if your cart has one.

That's 70%
50.9 is 100% |

Re: Precedent jerking
Batteries are 4 years old so according to the soc chart it may not hold the 50+ volt charge. After resetting the obc still jerking so that didn't do anything. Also tried cleanin the Mcor contact by pressing the pedal a few times with key off. I'm thinking that could be causing the jerky driving. Well the charger won't do anything but click and isn't charging the battering anymore and each one is giving me a reading of 8 volts approximately I don't remember each one individually

Precedent jerking
This will allow you to "jump" the charger to test if the charger works or if you have a bad OBC.
If the charger works with this method, you need and OBC, if the charger still doesn't work, you will need to determine what is wrong with your charger. Post number four on the thread linked below. Be warned!!! The charger will NOT shut off!!! You need to "babysit" the charge cycle and pull the charger off when it gets to 63 volts or so. Best bet if you are keeping this cart is to get a good OBC or get a good aftermarket smart charger. DPI or Lester seem to be preferred around here. Re: Precedent jerking
To be clear, resetting the OBC should let the battery charger fully charge the pack if that is the reason it is only 70% SOC when it shuts off.
Another problem might be loose or corroded battery cables. Check all of them, even the ones going to the motor. This could be a source of resistance and heat causing a sudden jerk while under load. |

Check it at the pedal and linkage. See if its loose then if its all good appearance wise, start checking the output of the MCOR and you may find it to be very erratic and if so, that will cause the jerking you feel. |

Well determined the outlet my charger was plugged into got fried during a storm so have to replace it. For now it's plugged into a new outlet and back to charging as normal so have to wait and see what happens. Thank for all the input and will be looking back and updating the thread once I get a full charge |
