2008 Club Car Precedent accelerator cuts off
Here is my ?:
I have owned a 2008 electric club car precedent IQ for @4 years the cart has had no problems while I've owned it. Sometime over the winter the GFI on the outlet I used to charge the cart popped, the charger stopped and subsequently the batteries were stone dead when I uncovered the cart in the spring. I was able to get the batteries charged with the help of a 12 V car charger then Club Car charger. The cart seemed to work OK. Then an intermittent problem arose, when i press the accelerator all the way down the cart would lose power and cut out. The intermittent problem became a regular occurrence. After reading up on it I replaced the following components that I was able to obtain from a friends club Car: solenoid, MCOR, speed sensor and magnet, put in a new Curtis controller, changed the OBC, and put a new motor in yet the problem persists. I also jumped the key switch and the fwd reverse switch and that did not help. Additionally the electric breaking safety on the cart when you push it while in the run position is has not working. The cart charges fine Trojan batteries are 4 years old. I'm at a loss,I was hoping someone in the chat group could help me diagnose and fix the problem. Thank You |

I would thinK the stone dead batteries would be the problem ... Even after getting them up to power they are not holding the load needed to move the cart
if you can swap your friends batteries and see what happens |

not seeing a significant voltage drop while depressing the pedal. charge is at 50.2 and only drops a volt or two

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent accelerator cuts off
any other suggestions besides battery issues? I don't see voltage drop off when the accelerator pedal cuts off power.
Key Switch on, run mode, forward or reverse and roll the cart by hand it does not sound the alarm or engage the motor braking. It just rolls down the road as if it was in tow mode. You can apply the accelerator slowly and the cart will move but once you apply it all the way the power just cuts off. I switched out everything except the batteries at this point |

Re: 2008 Club Car Precedent accelerator cuts off
Perhaps the problem is twofold in that 50 volts is but 80 % state of charge and dropping 2 volts just pressing the pedal is putting you down to less than 50 % state of charge. Failing the roll away test means your speed sensor is bad and that cart is in limp mode which cuts your speed to a safe crawl...

could it be the wiring to the speed sensor? I replaced the speed sensor and the magnet with the same issue.
