Default Controller/solenoid

We have a EZ go golf cart that had a lift kit added before we got it but it doesn't hold the charge and when it's been used it looses power going uphill. We had a guy that works on them look at it and he said the speed controller wasn't big enough and it needed to be a bigger amp and that the solenoid was the wrong one. The controller is a 350amp and I'm not sure why he said the solenoid was wrong. Any suggestions what size controller we should go back in since it has the lift and bigger tires? The repair guy said a 400amp but I'm just wondering if he even looked because he told us the one on it was a 300amp but it's a 350. He was going to charge an arm and leg for the part. Any help would be good.

400 amp controller calls for a heavy duty solenoid. Neither have anything to do with batteries holding a charge.

400a control requires a 200a solenoid. A bigger controller will allow the motor access to more amperage which it will use to make more torque assuming the supply (battery pack) is good & can sustain the additional draw.

Put a voltmeter on that battery pack, note the reading when the cart is standing still, then head up a steep hill and see what the lowest reading you get it is ..... post the results here
