Need EZGO Information
I just bought an EZGO cart off a friend of mine. Hopefully everything checks out, but I need some info on it first.
This is my first cart and I will be using in the So Cal desert in an RV park to just get around from site to site with my wife and kids. The label on it (under the seat on the driver's side) says EZGO TEXTRON, serial number 308075 and manuf code 84M29. I have a Lestronic II Motive Power Charger - model 07850 type 36LC25-8ET The batteries are dead, but my friend said it worked when they were fresh. So first task obviously, buy batteries. I also plan on replacing all battery cables. Other than that, where should I focus my maintenance? Should I go ahead and replace all wiring? Any place to lubricate? Fluids to replace? Any and all advice and info is appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Need EZGO Information
The manufacture code say it is a 1929 cart ?
That 2 might be 8,9,0 ? Is it a metal or plastic body cart? Any pics? |

Re: Need EZGO Information
Thanks Scotty. From the research I did, I was wondering if it was a 1929 too. My friend said it was an 89.
Here are some pics of it. |

And here is the charger that came with it, just in case that helps anything.

Re: Need EZGO Information
The charger might not have been the original.
Might the date code be reversed, that is it is an '84 cart? Look for other cues like body type or materials. Focus on parts that are probably original to the cart, not add ons or replacements. |

Re: Need EZGO Information
Sdsuslacker, you are on the right track....it would be a good idea to replace all of the high current cables. and it would be a good idea to replace the oil in the rear end as well. once you get the batteries out....take a good look at the battery tray, for a cart that old, there is probably a good chance that there has been some battery acid leakage, so if the battery tray isn't rotted out to bad, clean it up and recoat is before you put your batteries back in.
oh and btw...... CONGRATS on your ride and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |

Re: Need EZGO Information
Thanks everyone. Sorry it took me a bit to get back to forum, I was enjoying that fridge Sir Nuke introduced me to, maybe a little too much.
So here is my plan of attack: 1. Replace batteries 2. Replace all battery/power cables. 3. Replace solenoid 4. Any other suggestions? Any other parts that should be replaced as normal wear and tear? The good news is, I was able to get enough charge on it and the cart moved ever so slowly in forward and reverse. |

Re: Need EZGO Information
Oh yeah, I heard back from my inquiry to EZGO and my cart is a 1984 Marathon, 36 volt.

Great - I wondered if that was the case. Have fun with your cart.
