Nathan,
Changing the cables should give you a bit more torque, probably enough to be noticeable. There will be little improvement in the speed on level ground, but you should see less slow-down on hills.

I would get a HD unit from scotty.

if you upgrade all wires and don't upgrade that, that will be your weakest link.

Ok thanks just worried it won't have enough power to pull 4 people! First time I've messed with a cart but it's pretty fun learning so far!

Run some tests before you upgrade - see what you have and then decide what you want to change.
How fast does it go now? How are the batteries; age, voltage, condition...
Can it take four people now? How does it handle hills?
How far will it go before the voltage drops to 50% SOC (36.3v assuming 36v pack)?
(Don't run it below 50% SOC, ever!)

It has six new battery's, gps says it goes 17 mph where I live we have a hill on our road , when I go up it by my self you can feal it slow down. The guy I bought it from sates it has a 400 amp controller, this is my first cart, all this information on here is overwhelming ! But it's really cool messing with it ! I got it for the family at the beach to ride thanks nathan

Don't give up...just keep reading and reading, read everything.
It will all start to sink in and make sense, about the fourth time you read the same question and answer, but that's good.

17mph is good speed for this cart. A 400 or even 500 amp control will not make a series cart go faster. It will make it produce more torque. Slowing under load (uphill) is perfectly normal for an electric cart. Bigger controllers and cables can reduce the amount of slowing by increasing torque.
