Default 2010 EZGO TXT has limited range

I have a 2010 EZGO Txt with Trojan Batteries 48v. I have an inverter with radio and lights but all accessories are on a switch so that inverter is not running full time. Inverter was off during my distance ride. I took a distance ride of 8.5 miles and i was near dead. Battery year is A1 which i assume is January 2011. When i bought cart batteries were over filled and overflowing. I removed water to normal level about 5 months ago. I have yet to fill with water and water level is still good. I have a back seat and stock tires. Everything motor, controller etc is all stock. I would think i could get better mileage than that. I live in a flat area with tiny inclines but not more than 5 foot in height.

I think that is all the info I can think of.

What do you all think could be my issues with my distance?

Get your DVM out and take a reading of the battery pack 12 hours after fully charging and shutting off on its own. This will help us to help you.

Check tire pressure. Check pack voltage after 12 hour rest after charging. Post your numbers by battery here. I am sure an expert will chime in sooner or later.

these numbers were taken about 24 hrs after fully charged. I will get the 12hr numbers later.

#1 8.7 #2 9.3 #3 8.4 #4 8.3 #5 8.4 #6 8.3

Whole Battery pack is at 50.2
Battery pack with inverter running and lights on 49.2

I dont know if i mentioned it but cart is a 48v with 6 8volt batteries. Thanks for the quick replies.

The 24 hour numbers are just as good as the 12hr numbers. The numbers have me suspicious of the batteries right off the bat. They should be closer to even with each other. Go for a couple mile ride, with your voltmeter & pen & paper ready at the house. When you get home, immediately record the individual voltages in the same order you tested before & post the numbers here.

i think i may have solved my own problem but i don't understand the #s so go figure.

#1 6.8 #2 6.8 #3 7.7 #4 6.8 #5 8.3 #6 8.3

I am assuming that anything under 8 is not good. I ran cart for about 2 miles with lights and radio. Initial pack reading was 48.8. didnt get a pack reading after but i am assuming its 4 bad batteries

Replace all of them not just the four. What is the date on your batteries.

Normally you should get around five years or so. Did you buy these batteries new? Oh yes what brand were they?
