Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
Sounds like a bad rocker switch. Pop the rocker switch out of the black box and disconnect all three wires from it. Physically jump the orange wire to the brown wire and see if it will run in forward without any issue. If this fixes your problem, replace the switch.

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
Update. Finally got back to the camper this past weekend.
Cart ran great for a while. No issues going forward. Worked every time. Day or so later experienced loss of power while driving. Backed up 20 feet and off we go again for a while no problems. Last day of weekend it really started acting up and was hit or miss if it would engage in forward. However, every time I backed up about 20 feet and then put in forward it would run fine in forward. Batteries are charged, water level in battery good. Today tested f/r switch and it is fine I tried jumping the wires as suggested from last response and no luck. Still no forward When I push down on accelerator I do hear the moor "clicking" Is that my next thing to test? Thanks |

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
Another update. I read some threads about putting the paper clip in the two prong connector going into the McCormack. Tried it and didn't work. Still goes in reverse no problem but not forward.
I also just finished resetting the obc. No luck. Still reverse but no forward. Thoughts? |

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
All of this happened with a physical jumper in place between the orange wire and the brown wire? If so, the switch definitely isn't your problem. You either have a short in your wiring between the F&R switch and the controller, or the controller itself is starting to fail.

No, I tried to do the jump but it didn't work. Do I start to follow the wires to see if anything is loose or broken?

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
How did you jump the wires together? Typically I like to use a small blade fuse. Amperage doesn't matter, you're just using it as a jumper. Put the orange wire on one blade of the fuse and the brown one on the other.

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
I just used a piece of wire and stripped the ends and stuck it inside the connectors

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
So it does nothing at all with the orange jumped to brown? Either a broken wire or a bad controller. Check for continuity from the connector of the brown wire to the brown wire on the 16 pin connector of the controller. If you have continuity there, replace the controller.

Re: Club car ds occasionally won't go forward
Correct. Does nothing when those two wires are jumped.
Can you explain exactly how to check for continuity? Red lead from multimeter goes where? Black lead goes where? My multi meter goes on what setting? Should I hear the beep? Thanks. Sounds like a controller problem. Are they fixable or need to buy new? |
