Default Charging question

I've got a new to me 2012 Precedent. Yesterday I put the charger on it and left it. I came back this morning and the charger was off as I had expected and the pack voltage measured 50.6v. I topped off the water and then took it for about a 3 mile ride on rolling terrain (streets). I checked the pack again and had 50.1v.

Now here is the odd thing to me, when I plugged up the charger it kicked and the meter pegged out at something over 15 amps. Rather than leave it I fooled around working on other things and after about 5 min the charger cycled off and back on. It did that a second time about 5 min later. It's been on now for about 20 min with no other interruptions. Is that normal charger behavior?

Dennis,
That is normal behavior.

The abc is talking to the batteries and deciding how much charge they need. After adding water, they might charge for another 5 - 7 hours.

Thanks for the info. Couldn't find that in the manual.
