Yes, there is suppose to be bracket that rivets to that hole in the side and it rivets to the frame, that holds the body solid. Then you should be able to put the original plastic pieces back on and then the trim should cover it. I done several of those bodies and that's how I usually do it.

I thought about riveting mine to the side of the body. The instructions tell you to use the supplied bolt and nut to bolt it onto the body. That is what I have done for now. If that bolt gets loose or something like that then I'm going to rivet it.

The last one I did I used rivet and it worked good and looks a little better.

I have the same body and just riveted the rear on. Body is solid after the brackets are put on.

Question regarding the diamond plate rocker panels. Did you have to notch them because of the metal brackets on the sides to get them to fit flush?
