Post Club Car DS 36volt to 48 volt conversion

I have a 1992 Electric Club Car DS 36volt with the v-glide setup and single solenoid and 5 resistor setup. I have had several people tell me to put the 6 8 volt batteries in it to "wake up" the motor. I know when I do this I need to change the charger out. Do I need to change out the solenoid? Anything else I should know before doing this?

Buy a bag of marshmallows

You cannot put 48v in this drive system without having a melt down. The drive system needs to be modernized to solid state speed control in order to take advantage of the 48v wake up

Scotty is 100% correct about that. Your cart cannot handle the added amperage/voltage without a catastrophic failure. I thought about doing that to my 92 DS. Instead I ordered one of Scotty's kits and never looked back. It's been over two years and my cart is reliable as hell for not too much dough.

Had a customer email me last week because he wanted to jump his conversion up to 48 volts. He put it in 10 yrs ago, still running fine.

I just did the same thing with my 93 ds. Although, my batteries were new and I just added 2 more 6 volts for a total of 48volts. I added an alltrax 48500 controller kit from Scottyb. The kit came with everything I needed and the instructions were very easy to follow. I had it all in and running in 3 hours. I made my own 2 gauge cables as well. My speed went from 11 or 12mph to 18 with tons of torque with the stock motor. LOVE IT. New charger and fn1 switch for the controller are on their way...again...from Scottyb.

Lol! Thanks Scottyb! I think the key to quick install is exactly what you said....REMOVE EVERY WIRE! That's exactly what I did...no batteries, no wires and nothing in your way and follow Scottys instruction step by step...easy peasy

You followed my instructions!? You crazy guy

You are right. This is such a simple system there are only a handful of wires in the whole cart.
