Default Club Car 2003 intermittent problem

I have a Clubcar 2003 48V eletric that will be running fine, and all of a sudden it stops. Release my foot from the throttle and then step on the throttle again and it will run fine for maybe a minute or two then stop again. I have replaced the MCOR, checked for loose and failed connections. Anyone have any ides.

Thank you,
Ken

It sounds like your solenoid. When it does it again, check to see if the solenoid is falling out. It should hear it click after you depress the go pedal.

To verify it, have a volt meter handy and verify voltage at the terminals.

Changed solenoid, still have the problem. Now, I jacked up the rear end so to operate the cart without moving so to check circuits while under load. What I have found is with the throttle at 3/4 to full the motor surges. Below 3/4 throttle the motor levels out and I have linear speed control. Any ideas.

THanks,
Ken

It's really not good to spin the motor at high speed with the cart lifted. You could damage it. Spinning the motor with the cart lifted should be very short runs for testing only, just to verify that the motor works.

Your surging speeds are normal when the vehicle is in the air. Early IQ models such as yours had a diode, or lack there of, in the wire harness that was crucial to keeping the solenoid engaged while driving. This problem is easy to fix by installing a "Main Dropout Harness" in-line with the tow/run switch. I can't guarantee this is your problem, but with your cart being a 2003 (The 2nd year of the IQ), I'd say the chances are good that this will fix your issue.
