I just rechecked the schematic and it has the two red wires going to the same post as the battery positive.

I can't explain why it works when you switched the diode.

Just an observation....but remember I am only a newbie.

Sir Nuke, I have to agree with rking, the two red wire rings need to be on the other terminal of the solenoid.
The diode would need to be flipped back as you had it originally. (diode stripe to positive cable to battery +)
At least that is what shows in the schematic. See blue box and circle below.
They are that way in the Alltrax schematic also.

The difference is when power is applied to the tow/maint switch and the reverse buzzer.
Since you have them connected on the downstream side (no power on those until the solenoid is closed),
this may explain why you had the original issue.
I would review it and see if someone else has some additional inputs.
I know it's working well now, I just like things to match schematics.

I think you might be dealing with a cottage industry and not a Fortune 500 company. Google earth is your friend when it comes to seeing the store front.

Glad to hear you got it going. The power of the internet and forums with real life users is what it is really all about.

looking at the AllTrax drawing truly confirms things.....looking at the small posts, the Red, Yellow, and White/Yellow are on the same side of where the 2 red wires are on the large posts.....it boggles my mind as I installed them back where they were originally, using the original wires.....could be they were installed wrong somewhere in the past 19 years....seems to me, I will switch to tow......and swap the two wires from one large post to the other and the diode as well.....and will report back.

Its DONE.....and the wires are swapped successfully. I want to apologize to those who wrote those instructions, both aftermarket and the big company......as I realized later on....the picture I took of the original wiring.....didn't take into effect which side the power was flowing from and to.....and the routing of the cables was different from the stock controller to the new one....which lead ME to switch which large post the two wires were on.....all my fault. but thanks to the help of all involved......and this forum, all is right in the world and all lights are GREEN.

Good news. And I'm trying to learn something here. What is the purpose of the diode on the mains? Is it what allows current to flow back to the batteries when the solenoid is open?

And thus has no real effect on the operation of the cart?

its a REGEN DIODE......I'm not real sure its real purpose, seeing as I am new to SEPEX carts.....maybe one of the heavy's here can explain its true purpose.

...and my apologies Nuke, I'm at least partially responsible for you switching it in the first place.
