With the motor, switch, and controller I have, would I be able to safely add 2 6V batteries?

I don't know if your controller will work at 48V and solenoids tend to be voltage specific also. Motor and F/R switch will work at 48V.

Awesome, thank you! I'll PM Scotty and purchase a 500amp controller and a suitable solenoid. 350amp controller offers good torque, however, I think 500amp will help me with the hills and soft sand.

Sorry for the novice questions gentlemen. I appreciate all of your well informed responses!

I decided to go with 6 8V Trojan batteries to avoid the weight gain. Sourcing the controller and solenoid and Ill be off to the races!

The grandparents will be happy when I give them my 2 year old 6v batteries and 350amp controller. Time to find them some thick gauge wires and they too will be off to the races (With a bit more torque for those hills).
