Default Ezgo Marathon vs TXT

Hi everyone- I have a 1990 Marathon with a 1205 controller. Does the marathon use the same motor as a TXT? I’m thinking of maybe a plum quick motor.

Thanks

Sorry, missed it (messed up first post) . Later marathon uses "close enough" motors. 36v series motors dont care much how they get their power (and also run just great on 48v too). Marathons dont use same controller as TXT. Throttle is different.. Txt is tough, marathon is bomb proof. Not a easy throttle conversion either.. if you have a marathon with a "sideways motor" (points side-to-side, not " front to back"), and the axle has a metal "pan" on the bottom, you have the whole world for Upgrade options.

I have a Marathon like you described. So the motor spline is the same as a TXT?

Thank you!

Yes. As long as they are both "series motors", some txt were not series motors like all marathons were. Motor splines are the same, but sepex motors are not compatible with series system electrically.

Ok. I’m thinking motor upgrades- so a Plum Quick or Admiral motor would work in it?

And you think the Marathon potentiometer system was better made than the TXT’s ITS? That’s interesting to hear.

Not better, just difficult to swap from one type to the other. The toughness thing was referring to the carts in general.

At least the TXT has a somewhat replaceable battery tray

So, CG, is the side to side motor on the Marathon a Dana rear?
