2013 EZ Go text.. No charger for about a week.
Hey guys, I had a bad outlet fry my charger.. Stock charger.. It hasn't been charged in about 8 days. I haven't been using the cart at all because I didn't want to completely drain the Batts. The batteries are 6 8v Dekas. Any thoughts on this? My new charger should be here early this week. Will being without a charge this long do any harm to the batteries? When I get the new charger is there anything special I need to do?.. Maybe charge them to full charge.. Then disconnect and then reconnect the charger for a short time? Thanks..

Yeah, don't drive it any, until new charger arrives. What charger did you buy? If it's a DPI, make sure it's set for your brand of batteries.
Just curious, what leads you to believe the wall outlet killed your stock charger? |

What is the present voltage / state of charge of your battery pack? If your pack is at a high state of charge, then sulfation is not expected to be a major issue. If you pack is at a low state of charge, then some sulfation most likely has occurred ... but given the relatively short time period (in my opinion) it should not affect your battery performance much. I think your idea of a full charge ... followed by disconnecting and reconnecting the charger for a second full charge (an equalization charge ... which should be shorter than the first charge) is a good way of proceeding. You can read a little about battery sulfation here: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/a..._to_prevent_it It sounds like you look after your batteries better than 95% of the common folk ... I don't think that you will have any problems proceeding as you suggested. See attached State of Charge chart. |

The stock QE charger usually turns off so quick when "re-plugged", I don't think it's gonna have much effect.
