without a doubt, you have a SERIES cart......and even though mine is a little newer.....the drive systems are the same. there may a few mechanical things that are different, like the steering mechanics, the steering column....but that is really about it.

thanks again! should be a fun project! ill start disassembly tonight!
I was very disappointed to see the cart used so many rivets...did you use a different style fastener to reassemble? or just replace the rivets? (not that i have to worry about it anytime soon, but I was just curious) |

Re: new to me 98 ezgo
Hey, nothing wrong with a '98 !!! (check my sig line)
Or being in Jacksonville ( I grew up on the Northside) it looks like the "battery tray" is pretty rusted... if/when you pull the batteries, a good cleaning/inspection and painting/rust stop is in order... if it is rusted too much, it is easily replaced (check the site sponsors) Because of the your location (salt air), I would suggest getting it up on jack stands and looking carefully over the entire frame and suspension ( I'm sure the leaf bushings are shot) for rust, broken welds etc.... it has wheel bearings, brakes and differential similar to a car, so grease, cleanup and fluid change is always a good way to look things over. Don't be afraid to get on here, search, read and learn.. it you don't see it readily, just ask... there a plenty of friendly and knowledgeable folks here... I'm probably more in the friendly category !!! It looks like you have a good "starter" |

Re: Rebuilding/upgrading a 98 txt - where to start!
here is my 98 rebuild... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ct-begins.html
My newbie questions... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ing-right.html I bought a rivet kit (site sponsor) to reinstall the body work.... you will need a bigger than the typical "pop" tool from Home depot to do it properly. Take it from all of us here... It aint NEVER finshed !!! |

Re: Rebuilding/upgrading a 98 txt - where to start!
ever used the fiberglass strand style bondo for filling holes like that? i see you used some 3m stuff, and while im not familiar with that particular product, im always willing to learn!
Im fairly handy patching fiberglass using chop and resin from my boating days, but if they make something in a tube that will patch all the holes im certainly interested! Id planned on trying a few items leftover in the garage to see how they come out (marinetex/bondo hair/etc) while i have the body removed. I plan on wrapping the body pieces with vinyl vs paint....but only because i have a GIGANTIC roll of carbon fiber vinyl wrap that ive never found a use for...ive only ever used it to wrap tiny small parts and panels in the past. |

Re: new to me 98 ezgo
yep, the tray is toast...im going to strip it completely down and fix/replace just about everything. Im guessing i can locate a replacement tray somewhere vs having to fab something up? just from the parts I see sofar im surprised its still even holding the weight of the batteries (perhaps its an extra special strong rust bond)...so refurbishing that tray might be a lost cause unless its super expensive!

Re: new to me 98 ezgo
ps since it appears the mods moved this to the ezgo forum, maybe they can merge the two threads here to avoid duplicates?
