Default 97 TXT 36v Seris Cart slow with spm cntroller

I have a 1997 TXT 36v series cart with a SPM48400EZ controller and good tojan battery's. It is very slow up hill with 2 220 pound men but runs about 12 mph on a flat surface. Is there a way to get more speed out of the cart?

can we assume you still are using the stock motor? if so, that is why it still runs that same speed as when you had the stock controller....if you want to actually make it faster, you will need to upgrade the motor to something that will spin faster. and bumping to 48v would also help a LOT....like getting you 33% more torque and speed, even out of your stock motor!

Slow 36v series carts top the list of performance complaints. The single best thing you can do to improve this cart is to upgrade the voltage system to 48v operation.
36v is an obsolete operating system, no one even makes a 36v golf cart anymore. 48v produces 33% more torque and speed from the original stock motor... and more performance from any aftermarket motor too when compared to 36v operation

I have a 36v DCS cart...

I bought the Admiral B2 motor and 400 controller from Scotty and it runs faster than every stock 48v I've come across.

My buddy has a PDS 48v and bought the same motor and controller from Scotty...and he kills me. Thing GPS'd at 38mph compared to mine at 31.

48v is the way to go....
